The Center for Mental Health Services of Manhattan

Mission

The mission behind the Mental Health Counseling Services of Manhattan Center began as an educational resource for schools, to reach children and teenagers experiencing low-self confidence. Mental Health Advocate Meredith O'Connor, founder of the Center, has assisted many school districts and colleges, both in the US and abroad, to implement new and additional bullying prevention policies and mental health programming  which capitalize on the impact of her place in pop culture. Research gathered from this programming has contributed to the development of evidence-based interventions specializing in empowerment through strength-based  counseling.

The resources created by the center also offer education in best practices  and counseling to support people with a range of conditions. These include populations with Neurodevelopmental Disorders (ADHD, ASD, Dyslexia and more), OCD and Anxiety Spectrum Disorders, and chronic health conditions. The resources developed by Mental Health Counseling Services of Manhattan include therapy, training for therapists, families and educational programming.

Mental Health Counseling Services of Manhattan offers Counseling, usually covered by insurance, from licensed clinicians. The center offers Cognitive Behavioral and other evidence-based interventions, concentrating in treatment for children, adolescents and teenagers. Therapy is offered both virtually to people anywhere in New York State, and in-person in Manhattan.  The Center aims to provide accessible care and most major insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and others are accepted.
