Mental Health Counseling Services of Manhattan was co-founded by Meredith O'Connor in response to the efforts and advancements in mental health advocacy done as a recording artist. Following two world tours, collaborations with Universal Music, Sony Brazil, Disney artists and more, Meredith O'Connor's career in the public eye has advanced visibility of mental health advocacy alongside household names in entertainment. The expansive need for mental health services were vocalized through hundreds of thousands of letters, comments on social media and conversations during meet-and greets on tour.
Jennifer Frommer, colleague and former SVP of Commercial Branding at Columbia Records and Sony Music, Directs the center's award winning program in conjunction with New York City Public Schools to offer access to free mentorship mental health services with licensed therapists.
Individual therapy is offered virtually and in person (at The Chrysler Building Office) to patients located in New York. Most private insurance plans are accepted. The center works with Fordham's GSE, NYU's Drama Therapy Program and therapists from Columbia University's Teachers College to bring evidence-based practices with a wide range of specialties offered by different therapists.
School districts in over twelve countries have implemented programming yielding positive impacts on the social-emotional wellness of students as observed in these schools. The materials in the program are developed from this research by licensed mental health clinicians. Collaborators and charter partners include:
• NYC Public Schools Office of Youth and Safety
• NYC DOE District 75
• NYU Drama Therapy Program
